All 4 members of the band live in New York City. City living has its ups and downs – sometimes being so far removed from nature can be truly maddening!
One of the perks to living in the “concrete jungle” is the Green Market. Green Markets are farmer’s markets that form on specific days each week in different areas of the city. These markets bring city-dwellers lots of great food - including fresh, organic, locally-grown produce. We also get to meet the farmers who grow our food face-to-face, and even learn about the farming process. It feels really important to us to have a close relationship with the food we eat – where it comes from, how it is grown, and the processes it goes through before we take it home.
Laurie goes to the Green Market weekly to get fresh greens, fruit, flowers, dairy, and other supplies. It’s a ritual that is almost never missed, regardless of weather or busy schedule. Sometimes Lucy, Laurie's daughter, joins Laurie at the market (although these days she only really likes to go if mom buys her a chocolate milk...). Lucy is learning all about sustainable farming and making healthy food choices, both through the Green Market and CSA's.
Laurie's favorite is the middle one - cherry!
