A note from Laurie, which appeared in our January newsletter (to sign up, click here):
Hello!
It's a New Year, and I am sending you the second edition of our New Laurie Berkner Band Newsletter.
There were many New things that we did this year, including starting this blog (thank you for all of the great feedback!), releasing our first Greatest Hits album (The Best of The Laurie Berkner Band) and creating our free Mobile App (which thousands of you have downloaded already, yeah)!
Nickelodeon released their DVD of LBB videos called, Let's Hear it for the Laurie Berkner Band, and here at my company, Two Tomatoes Records, we began working on our own LBB DVD along with our friends at Razor and Tie, LLC (you can check out a short behind-the scenes clip below). We changed our live shows to be Birthday Party concerts and in support of our theme, teamed up with both Kids Care Clubs and Soles 4 Souls to help children in need. I am so pleased that we also started partnerships with Honest Tea and Umi children's shoes. It's exciting to be supporting other businesses that I respect, and to get their support in return. (Check both of these great companies out!) I can't wait to see what's in store for 2011 (besides finishing up that DVD!).
At the end of 2009, Lucy was at an age where she understood enough about New Year's Eve that we decided to set the clocks ahead and have our own family celebration before her bedtime (she particularly liked the noisemakers and the glasses with the flashing lights that were shaped like 2010). We did this again at the end of 2010, but because of travel plans we decided to hold our celebration one night early. My brother pointed out to Lucy that actually, every day is the start of a new year, it just depends on when you decide the year begins. That way it didn't matter that we celebrated on the 30th instead of the 31st. I liked thinking about the year ahead this way. If I think of every day as the start of a New year, it helps me to remember how every day is filled with New possibilities. I hope your 2011 is filled with lots of New possibilities, New joy, New connections and New awarenesses (perhaps even of awarenesses some of the wonderful things you already have) and that this coming year turns out to be the best one so far.
Happy New Year!
Love,
Laurie
