All of us here at Two Tomatoes Records and the Laurie Berkner Band want to congratulate Grammy-nominated family music artist Brady Rymer on his new CD, "Love Me for Who I Am", that celebrates and honors kids of all abilities - particularly those on the autism spectrum. The The 10-song album was released this past Tuesday!
This is a subject very close to all of our hearts here at the LBB. We receive a lot of e-mails about our autistic fans whose lives have been touched by music in a unique and beautiful way. For this reason, Laurie felt very drawn to this project and is thrilled to have had to opportunity to contribute.
Laurie is featured as a guest vocalist on the song, "Soft Things".
Brady was inspired to create the CD through his work with the Celebrate the Children School in New Jersey, and he hopes "the songs will invite a deeper understanding and appreciation of children with autism and other related conditions". Songs such as, "Picky Eater", "Who Wants to Wear Shoes?", "I Don't Like Change", and "Tune Out" all refer to the experience of a child with Autism or Asperger's Syndrome, but the lyrics ring true for everyone.
Laurie greatly enjoyed recording and collaborating with Brady on this track, especially since her daughter, Lucy, is a big fan of Brady's music The title track, "Love Me for Who I Am", can be downloaded now - preview or purchase it by clicking here.
Hello,
I am sure you get quite a lot of emails from parents whose children have been so touched by your music. I would just like to add my two cents. You are a wonderful group of musicians! My daughter is 4 and has autism along with global developmental delays. She has had more than her fair share of medical problems. While going through various therapies with her, it was suggested to me that i purchase music cd's for her that had slower versions of songs on them for children with apraxia because all of the music we were using was sung to fast for her to even understand. That's when I first came across The Laurie Berkner Band. My daughter comes alive when she hears your music. She tries to dance and has even began repeating some of the words from her favorite songs. She has been non verbal up until this year. I just wanted you all to know how much you really touch the lives of families you don't even know. Your music has been such a blessing to us and gave our beautiful daughter an outlet to express herself all on her own. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Laurie Kohut
